It’ll be 42 years in June. Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart.
Happy Valentine’s Day, FReepers.
That great! I love to hear about long lasting marriages.
It will, please God, be 44 years for us in July. My wife is conservative, an FR lurker - and when our kids were grown she still had a figure that many a woman of twenty five could envy. I couldnt believe my good fortune when I found her - I proposed about six weeks after our first date, and we were married six months after that date. She cooks, too - a Home Ec teacher by training. Our daughters friend once remarked at our table that the food was always good here, but you never have to hate yourself for eating it.
A young man who was being pressured by his family about marriage once asked about how my family related to my wife initially. I replied that Dad and Mother picked us up at the airport when they first met her - and after a twenty-minute drive home Dad flashed me the high sign behind her back while she was walking into the door of the house. And Mother didnt take much longer. The young man asked, But what would you have done if your mother hadnt approved? I replied, I would have thought that she had taken leave of her senses.
I stand by that judgement.
Wow. 42 years! Congratulations.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO EVERYONE.
