All it takes is a cursory look around.
There are supporters for the guy here.
We had someone the other night shrieking about how Dorner was being denied due process... while he was shooting at the San Bernadino Sherrifs..
Deadly force is authorized in response to deadly force.
Same here. Dorner isn't the issue. The burning of the 14th Amendment is. LEOs know when they sign up that they risk their lives to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law. They are to conduct themselves accordingly, and I hope and pray the majority of police do. Once they put on the badge they are held to a higher standard. Burning Dorner alive doesn't cut it. LEOs are supposed to be trained to keep a cooler head than some wackjob. They shouldn't let their personal emotions ruin their duty to the law. This incident makes it appear like there was revenge on their part. Either we're a civilized nation of laws or anarchy prevails. Can't have both.
I hope they did.
"not in some firefight."
Gunfire was exchanged and officers were killed/wounded at the scene. It was a firefight sure enough. Just because they happened to roast him at the end of it doesn't mean a firefight didn't take place.
"The officers seemed determined to execute him."
Execute him? Should they simply have lined up to be shot? He started this whole thing and got what he had coming. You do realize that police officers have the right to self-defense as well? He was not executed.
"I've seen posts concerned with the rule of law, not Dornan."
Some people cry 'unconstitutional!' every time a cop unholsters his weapon. In many cases there are legitimate reasons to question what happened. This case is pretty clear cut; Dorner got what he had coming. The police have a duty to maintain public safety, and knocking off a lunatic on a killing spree fits that job description pretty well.
Firing at police officers can get a person killed. Especially when it is quite obvious the person shooting is willing to kill indiscriminately.
You cannot reason with some people. I agree with you that the police tactics were questionable and that saying so does not automatically make one a “dorner supporter” by any means. Fact is, the police think they are above the law these days. They wanted revenge, not a bad guy brought out in cuffs. We are supposed to be a civilized country. What gives these men the right to be judge, jury and executioner? Not sad that he’s dead but it just seems wrong the way they achieved it.
