Yes, Cal Thomas claimed to have shown him the "way" several years ago when Beckel was practically drinking himself to death. That's one act of charity I have mixed feelings about.
Ah, I know Beckel and other Lefties have decried the “appropriateness” of Dr. Carson’s remarks but it’s funny how the left didn’t have much to say about Mother Theresa when she excoriated Clinton at a prayer breakfast.
One thing is certain, the shriller the cries, the louder they pound the table to object, the more you KNOW you have them scared and defenseless. I have seen this shrillness by Liberals against Republicans over and over. Remember how the Left just screamed bloody murder about evil money in politics when Republicans had the fundraising advantage? And they suddenly went silent about money in politics when Obama was raising a billion dollars.

THAT is the current Dem talking point about this “disruptive” and “inappropriate” speech by Carson. I heard another bloviator on Fox a night or two ago who heads something ominously called “Gotham Ghostwriters” attempt to make the same point, and sounding ridiculous when he dubbed it partisan, ideological, and disrespectful to the idea that there SHOULD be a “safe space” (his words) where we can gather and make jokes and be lighthearted. This idiot viewpoint of course discounts the idea that EVERYTHING Obama does and says is guilty of just that——though he may have behaved himself at that particular event.(Don’t know, didn’t watch it)

He’s mentioned it from time to time on The Five show. Supposedly, he’s now a born again Christian, brought into the fold by Cal Thomas.
Beckel’s religion is the Twelve Step Program of AA. I can’t imagine who his “higher power” would be, though.
