I always get a laugh when I hear people spout about mixing "races." It is my sad duty to inform those people that the "races" have been mixed for many thousands of years. In short, there is no such thing as race.

My pasty-faced, blond, blue-eyed, thoroughly Caucasian-looking step-daughter had a DNA analysis taken recently. She found out she (and obviously my wife) had a black ancestor who lived in England and intermarried with the home people. There have been black people in England since Roman times, and many obviously interbred/intermarried with the English. My wife was shocked, but it didn't surprise me much. So whenever I hear certain people prate about their "pure" bloodlines, I smirk and then wish I could give that person a DNA analysis.

Yes and the “first black President” (never mind the claim about Clinton) had a mother whose race was the same as mine:
Caucasian (he admitted to being a “mutt”)

Agreed about the mixing over the years.

It’s not that there is no such thing as race. There are measurable genetic differences between, say, a “white” and a “black” person. It’s just that race is not so specif-c ordefinable a category as we pretend, and certainly there’s no such thing as racial purity. I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean, really. But you fall over backwards in the other direction when you deny race altogether.
