My hometown!! I've been checking with family and friends and all are OK. My 93 yr. old Aunt Mary was with her friends, including my s-i-l, and a cousin, along with some other family friends, having their regular Sunday night card game, and had some damage to her roof. They couldn't get out because their cars were blocked by debris. Thankfully, they were rescued, and as they were leaving the house, the ceiling of her den fell in!

There was significant damage to several buildings on the campus of the Univ. of Southern Miss., including the Alumni House, which was only recently remodeled. The storm went right across the Southeast corner of the campus. Our son had finished up his 'on campus' studies at USM, just before Christmas, and is now home. I'd have been crazy with worry if he'd been there!

Glad you were able to connect with your family and while it’s not GOOD news, it’s nowhere near as bad as it might have been or a bad as you might have worried about its being if you hadn’t talked to them. Property can be fixed. People can’t be replaced.
