Both of mine were, one was reading well at two.

Kids should be allowed to be kids.

Oh, so early reading is damaging? As opposed to what, TV? Yeah, right.

One of those two girls is at Stanford, and the other at Utah State on a full academic scholarship. Both are 4.0. One revels in social dance and the other is on the track team. You can read a paper they both wrote at the ages of 12 & 13 here.

Tell you what, you can doom your girls to completing college and getting a job just as their fertility wanes. I'd rather they had the option and satisfaction of raising a real family while they are still in their 20s. Our school system, as it is, dooms the middle class to demographic extinction, and America with it. So next time, think about it a little before telling everybody else what to do.
