Dayton: Tax Cuts Caused Minn. Economic Problems

Gov. Mark Dayton says in his State of the State speech that past state income tax cuts are partly to blame for chronic budget problems in Minnesota and that political leaders cannot afford to keep delaying difficult tax and spending decisions.

Dayton is delivering the annual speech Wednesday night in the state House chamber. He says in advance excerpts provided by his office that income tax cuts in the late '90s were followed by a decade where Minnesota's economy fared worse than the nation as a whole and most other states.

The speech is largely a pitch for Dayton's proposal to hike income taxes on the wealthy and expand the state sales tax to more purchases.

I’m sure MN will reap the benefits of taxing their way to prosperity.

Someone should point out if “Dayton’s” had to raise their prices everytime they needed $$$, they would have gone out of business along time ago.

Gee Gov. Dayton jack up taxes on the “rich” and watch those highly paid Vikings and Twins players abandon Minnesota for low tax states like Texas and Florida.

Two things Mr. Governor:

1. You keep your money in South Dakota to avoid Minnesota taxes.

2. You better have a talk with Democrat Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken who are sponsoring a bill to REMOVE the medical device tax under Obamacare as it hurts business and economic growth.

I am seriously considering changing my name to LachlanIowa, since the Minnesota Gig is oppressing. It is also getting more difficult to find kindred spirits.

Marx Dayton can have it.

As long as former Senator Dayton has a bug-out route when the going gets tough and scary, he’s a very brave soul.

He has a history of running from danger, like when he ran out of DC after 9/1, a real leader.

Dayton- “It’s those damned taxpayers insisting on keeping their own money while we spend like there’s no tomorrow!”

“The man has issues. Real issues.”

Ain’t that the truth.

He’s a spoiled trust fund boy who never really worked a day in his life. he’s never stocked shelves or dug ditches. Hell, he doesn’t even understand what a normal office job is.

His whole adult life has been a giant therapy session - all at our expense. He runs for various political offices, gets elected, accomplishes nothing and then steps down. At the risk of engaging in psycho-babble, I get the feeling that he runs for these offices to find the acceptance that somehow he never had while growing up as rich spoiled kid in the Lake Minnetonka area.

I will not make fun of his obvious mental health issues because there, but for the grace of God, go I. But I really don’t believe that psychologically he’s up to the challenge of holding political office. His constant “deer in the headlights” look should speak volumes about his abilities.

” I don’t remember many ads for pirates in the Minnesota or Wisconsin area.”

No, they are all in office already and don’t need the competition from outsiders.
