According to reports he is/was in San Diego as his briefcase and his badge were found close to a marina where he tied up an 81 year old man and tried to steal his boat. Th eprop got fouled and he abandoned that idea.

He knows LAPD procedure and it is notable that when he engaged in a shootout with the police, he retreated before back up arrived.

This is big new here in SoCal today. It fits in nicely with my theory of what gets police action:
1. If the victim is a cop, or family member.
2. If there is a possibility of good publicity.
3. If there is a fine or forfeiture involved.
That said, prayers for the safety all cops involved today.
And, for the safety of ANYONE driving a blue or gray Toyota Tacoma pickup.

.... Being reported on KABC that the suspects car is on fire in the snow near Big Bear in the San Bernardino Mountains. Multiple SWAT teams have been dispatched to the area. No word on where suspect is.
