Broun launches Senate campaign, vows cuts

Georgia Republican Rep. Paul Broun built his Wednesday Senate campaign rollout around a promise to cut spending.

“When I was sworn into the Marine Corps, and then again into the House of Representatives, I swore to defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic. Out-of-control spending has become our nation’s enemy,” he said in a statement released after a rally in Atlanta. “I’ll be the only candidate in this race whose first priority is to stop the runaway spending in Washington D.C.”

Broun, the first candidate to get in, said he’s “sponsored more legislation to reduce spending than any other member of Congress from this state.” It was an implicit shot across the bow at the other Republicans from the House delegations who are exploring a statewide bid: Tom Price, Phil Gingrey, Tom Graves and Jack Kingston. The field is wide open after Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss announced his retirement.

Remember, Rep. Broun. “Rape is tragic, horrific and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” NOTHING further must emerge through your lips about that subject.

Indeed. Why anyone would say anything beyond that is just plain stupid.

Yes, our candidates need to make sure they don’t fall into any traps with regards to abortion. He’s a medical doctor anyway so hopefully not. He has a great record in the House and is well liked by the Tea Partiers.
