OK, will do it.

He doesn’t (shouldn’t) need our letters.
This is all one great big theatre performance being put on for the masses. The outcome has already been decided by the elected crooks.
We as Americans have the right to bear arms. PERIOD.
I am done playing their games. Calling, faxing, emailing, letter writing. They don’t care what we think. When the majority of Americans accept the fact that these bamboozlers in DC are completely full of manure, we can then take back our nation.
I will not jump just because they tell me too. Think about it. Why do we need to write these letters when we already have the right to bear arms? Is it to make us believe we the people still have the power to govern ourselves?
This is all one great big sham.
All they need is to read the clearly written words in the US Constitution.
Period.
Exactly!
Letters? He wants letters?
Fine, how about these letters...
W E T H E P E O P L E
Why can’t he read the same stuff the rest of us do? And why can’t he do the same math on firearms sales? FReepers assemble a wealth of information on this topic, gleaned from news sources around the world and from many perceptive, wise, and intelligent citizens of America.
If you can’t learn anything from all this, Senator Cruz, perhaps you should step aside and make room for someone who can.
Gee, guys, stop being so negative. Cruz is our friend. He’s a real firebrand who has been in office a matter of weeks but is already doing what he promised and taking the liberals to the cleaners. Have you seen some of the video footage of this guy in action? He’s not afraid of Obama (yet. I assume this mean Obama hasn’t found the lever by which to blackmail him so far.)
He’s looking for ammunition—the verbal kind. We have all heard and read stories about people who defend themselves, and it’s helpful for him to be able to tell those stories. I have three such stories myself. He may also want to be able to speak out using arguments that possibly his staffers haven’t thought of.
Example: there was a woman lawyer from the Independent Women’s Forum who testified the other day. She talked about how guns equalize women with larger stronger male criminals. This is an excellent argument, but I could take it further. I’d like to write to Cruz on this, extending and developing the premise, because I have some additional ideas.
The question is, does he want to hear from everybody, or just from his constituency?
Attacking Senator Cruz??? You must be one du’s finest.
one of rather......
Oh, the irony of asking the federal government to protect the Second Amendment! :-)
Bump for reference.
If senator Cruz is on the up-and-up with this, then he is a naive fool.
He, and any one who wastes their time writing a “letter”, is playing checkers while the powers that be are planning a war.
This is another distraction. Wake up. Our govt. has been taken over by communists, New World Order lovers, and spineless useful idiots.
This isn’t about being negative or positive. This is about truth and reality.
They are distracting us with crap like this. We need to stop responding to their commands. We are not dogs, we are The American People.
We have a Constitution to protect. These politicians and the minions behind them are destroying it.
They are laughing at us. Our feeble attempts working “within the system” are useless.
The last election was stolen. We did nothing.
Our President can kill us without due process. We do nothing.
Guns will be outlawed. I assume most of us will do nothing.
This list of treasonous acts go on and on. We do nothing.
Do you really think a letter writing campaign about the benefits of gunownership will help?
Please wake up!
Yes. All of these naive useful politicians should step aside. Just because someone is a good man, it doesn’t mean he is the right man for the job.
So what are you planning to do? What do you want Cruz to do? I don’t believe he’s one of the people destroying the Constitution. When you say “we have a Constitution to protect,” what steps do you recommend, specifically?
Cruz probably isn’t wanting to destroy our nation. But he is naive if he believes that a letter writing campaign will stop the gun hunt.
These so called “elected officials” were put in office to uphold and defend the constitution. They are not. This is all lip service.
What am I doing you ask? Praying. And IF there is anymore I am doing.......well that is my business.
If we don't support the conservative legislators that are left, we will be a voice in the desert.
OK, I respect your privacy. But since you criticize me and Cruz, and do not subscribe to our belief that popular opinion may be swayed if we counter the left-wing narrative with a narrative of our own, then I ask you for suggestions about what should be done. Criticism is not helpful unless you can propose an alternative.
Go write your letter then.
While you’re at it, why don’t you write one to Barry too!

Dear EL Presidente,
I respectfully request that you stop infringing on my rights as an American.
Plz get back to me, as this is reallllllly important.

If you would like, you have my permission to use the above template.
Just be sure to keep your head in the sand. I wouldn’t want you to pull something.
Like others have said, you talk the big talk, but are short on alternatives. Till then you credibility is near zero.
The truth shall set you free.
I have a grasp on reality. You are living in fantasy land.
If that is what you call “big talk” then so be it.
I have no better plan other than to pray. As for the rest, I will act accordingly as time passes.
I happen to like my “plan”.
If it makes you feel better to put me down because I gave you a dose of reality, have at it. Living in ignorance with regards to our nation is not something I will do. Nor will I shut up because you or anyone else is afraid to hear the truth.
One more thing.
Your “tilting at windmills” is not a plan. You are wasting your time and energy. You are doing exactly what they want you to do.
Playing tiddly winks with your dog would be time better spent.
I’ll keep praying and speaking the truth.
Please show me where I said “do nothing”.
You have taken other FReepers comments about what I said and twisted them into mine.
Here is what I said in a nutshell.
Letter writing to ask to keep what our Constitution gives us the right to have is pointless.
Anyone, and that includes senators and FReepers, who thinks it will help is woefully ignorant of the reality of the takeover of our government.
Are you trying to bait me into saying we should storm the Whitehouse? It is starting to feel like I am being baited into making unlawful threats.
Go sit and spin if that is what you want out of me.
I have already stated that what I will or won’t do is My business.
I am praying. That I will readily admit on this open forum.
Praying is the strongest thing I can do. If you think praying is “nothing”, well....I have nothing good to say about that.
Here’s my letters.
F U B O!
I don't think it was an attack catfish, rather making sure he's kept on a short leash.
We all know what happens to most of them once they are elected.
Just go here Senator...http://equalforce.net/EqualForce2/UNDERREPORTED_NEWS_OF_SELF_DEFENSE_THROUGHOUT_AMERICA.html
From the old story, “... A Free Republic is when you are NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE ON WHATS FOR DINNER and the sheep are armed.”
I so far love Ted Cruz, and have supported him. He is a good guy. But I agree with your sentiment that he does not and should not need our letters. He should stand on and educate about PRINCIPLE and not muddy himself in their petty “Jerry Springer Theater” games.
If we play their game we have already lost. We do not need data to retain our unalienable right to effective self defense against bad guys and despotic governments.
We should never play their game. Progressives always smugly want “data” to make decisions by — especially decisions that they don’t have the right to make. When they ask for hearing and data they already have used our money to collect lies, damn lies, and statistics that always distort reality, and they are ready to ramrod the low information group around them with their little Dephi technique games and control of the media.
There are lots of evil schemes that might seem pragmatic supported by lies, damn lies, and statistics.
The point is not to be drawn into an argument that involves PRAGMATICS when PRINCIPLE has already declared that an argument is not allowed.
Use your bully pulpit to teach the PRINCIPLE. Dont play in the mud with those scum.
well that is my business.
************
Yep you are 100% correct that it is your business.
So now why isn’t it the right of others to make it their business to write letters if they so choose?
Whatever...., in my honest opinion, he’s a nut job.
I guess it is also his business to insult the few conservative legislators we have left.
I am a woman, and yes it is my business.
Cruz is my senator and I will be writing him. Don’t waste your time on the Freepers who are trashing you. You can post anything at FR and piss off half the readership.
Sans-Culotte, great, but are you going to write him and encourage him to focus on little personalized anecdotes about guns? To play their little liberal game that our unalienable right to effective self defense (from bad guys and despotic governments both) actually depends on whether or not our stories appeal to the masses and the media?
Or are you going to write a letter to give Senator Cruz the WISE AND TOUGH COUNSEL HE NEEDS, and tell him NOT to play that pathetic game, and instead tell him to USE HIS BULLY PULPIT to educate low information Americans about AMERICAN PRINCIPLES, and how any discussion about limiting our right to self defense is OFF THE TABLE and DOES NOT DEPEND on selling little stories to “a majority” ???
President Reagan as the great educator would NOT take to route of anecdotes, and his staff would not be asking for them. He would educate on principle.
Senator Cruz is a new Senator. It was not HIM directly asking for help — it was staff or friends or whoever — they have mislead our conservative legislators over and over in the past. We are the board of directors, and the Senator is one of the legislative executives we have working for us, and it is our job to protect him from continuity staff, and set the tone for the entire war.
The war on communofascism is not going to be won by acting like our unalienable rights are up for grabs if we can’t cite appealing stories.
Even one as principled as Ted Cruz can end up playing the wrong game if we just go blindly along with bad ideas. Tell him the truth.
You got to wonder about the conservative credentials of those who trash strong conservatives like Cruz.
I said in my earlier post that replies like yours are best ignored. However, I have to respond to your innacurate post about Reagan. He frequently took the route of anecdotes, and people often asserted that he'd made them up. Have you never read a biography of Reagan or watched any of his speeches?
I thought about sending you a letter detailing how I live far from the nearest streetlight (10s of miles), and how it takes a half an hour for Law Enforcement to reach my location when the weather is nice, which is only a few months out of the year, and how it might be critically important to be able to defend myself should the need arise against multiple assailants who decided they wanted a place to commandeer, but really, that isn't the point.
The point of the Ssecond Amendment is written out in The Federalist Papers, No. 46, to be precise, and no further reason is needed.
That there should be no infringement on the type or number or feed devices for my firearms is self-evident to anyone who understands that purpose.
This is my unalienable Right, a fundamental Civil Right, reserved to the people without infringement.
As in the case of other Civil Rights, from which seat on the bus to the right to vote, infringements are forbidden. You wouldn't tell Rosa Parks she can sit anywhere, so long as it is an odd numbered day, or that she could only ride the bus five days a week, so why put limits on my civil right?
Only the fear that government has left its Constitutional boundaries and might suffer the remedy in Federalist 46 would compel anyone who had taken an oath to uphold the Constitution to violate that oath by infringing that right.
Respectfully,
On behalf of orthodox Americans I thank you.
Gosh, you have officially painted me with that broad brush, despite my late replies to this thread. I am a supporter of Senator Cruz.
So you declare that anyone who disagrees that we should just “go along” with Ted Cruz’s staff (as you demand) no matter what they want to do must be “bad” ? All must be wishy-washy, as you demand?
Well, I have been in Texas over 3 decades, and I already have supported Ted Cruz more than you did, period. And I still do. But I am not naive like you.
And I have read a lot of Reagan. And ... oops .. I was alive during all his rise to the Presidency starting in the 50’s, and I paid attention.
My post is not inaccurate at all. President Reagan NEVER took the “Jerry Springer Theater” route of using disputable anecdotes to justify inalienable principles. Period. You are way out of line saying that he did.
A pleasant anecdote here and there in order to introduce a discussion is a normal thing for great orators, and of course everyone knows that all great speakers do that, including President Reagan. But President Reagan NEVER “polled” for “stories” so he could descend into a liberal THEATER in which “the best story wins.”
You are way out of line besmirching good conservatives in this thread— and wrong — and are counterproductive to the advancement of conservative principles in your (probably unintentional) advocacy of a conventional left wing approach to “democracy” via “Jerry Springer Theater” — we live in a Free Republic!
And you're a drama queen.
Drama queen?
Childish way to end an argument. With an insult. Especially an insult that makes no sense in the disagreement.
There never was an argument. You just kept blathering.
No ropes or trees in my note. ;)
