Outgoing Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood lamented the amount of infrastructure spending that was approved by Congress during his tenure at the Department of Transportation (DOT) on Wednesday.
"America is one big pothole right now," LaHood said in an interview on "The Diane Rehm Show" on National Public Radio. "At one time ... we were the leader in infrastructure," LaHood continued. "We built the interstate system. It's the best road system in the world, and we're proud of it. But we're falling way behind other countries, because we have not made the investments."

Well how bout we spend transportation dollars on highway repair?
Damn.....you beat me to the punch.
America: LaHood is one big pothole....
Fixed it...
He needs to get out more. Our roads are fine and in good maintenance........................
I paid the Federal Highway Use Tax (2290) this year of $11,000. And it went where?
Congresscritters and senators worrying about how much they can make getting on different panels or hearings instead of doing the job they were elected to do. Budgeting monies, instead of doling out favors and political kickbacks.
It suddenly becomes a massive problem and THEN they wring their wrists...”oh what can we do, what can we do” ....****ING S**TBIRDS
The bigger the feral government gets, the further behind we fall.
I wonder if there is a connection?
Too bad his boss pi55ed away almost a Billion dollars on pork projects and donor payoffs.
don’t forget roundabouts aka “calming circles”.
very sheik and european.
And what did he do this past 4 years at the head of the DOT? Not enough ‘shovel-ready-jobs’?
This is such BS that it isn’t funny. America spends a fortune on “infrastructure.” American roads are not “crumbling” or if they are, its because the roads are state or local roads. The Feds want to take responsibility for paving every freakin road in America via another “stimulus.” And then they play bait-and-switch. They tell you they are spending $$$ on potholes but in reality most of the money goes to overpriced union workers, sidewalks that go to nowhere, a million road signs every mile and fancy, multi-million dollar electronic billboards that say things like “Don’t Drink and Drive.” Infrastructure spending is, for the most part, a boondoggle.

nah. impossible. no connection.
To a rat, ‘infrastructure’ means a light rail train to a broom factory.
What happened to the 800 billion dollar stimulus that was only four years ago? Did that actually accomplosh anything, and if not, who will go to jail?
One big pothole run by one big A-hole
Well, it is in my la hood! But what difference does it make? At his point? In time?
and they said to me, “You didn’t build that!” HA!
Our heroic republican’ts here in Michigan are now wanting to raise the gas tax or the sales tax and already have another bill that would skim some 8% off the top of that to “Maintain biking and hiking trails”.
