I don not mind losing Saturday delivery.

I love the postal service. Incredible and I love getting mail. Electronics will not replace it in the forseeable future and we will be much poorer without it.

The system is failed but the service it provides is remarkable.

Agree on the quality of the postal service. It is reliable and cheap compared to other countries' postal services. The Post Office has been hit by the Internet, which decreases the volume of first class mail--their real profit maker. You can pay bills, write letters, send electronic cards, conduct face to face meetings, etc. via the Internet.

The Post Office must also compete with FedEx, UPS, DHL who can cherry pick the most lucrative mail and package delivery. The reality is that the Post Office must deliver to every address in the US. It doesn't have a choice.

And the Post Office has been saddled by Congressional interference that hampers their ability to compete, e.g., the amount of money that must be set aside to cover pension and medical benefits--something the rest of the government doesn't have to do.

The delivery of mail is a constitutional responisiblity of government. We just need to unshackle the Post Office and let them run it.
