Minister: immigrant 'volumes' too high (Sweden)

Sweden's immigration minister has told a newspaper that Sweden needs to tighten rules for asylum seekers and other would-be immigrants to reduce the number of people coming into the country.

"Today Sweden is one of the countries that receives the most immigrants in the EU. That's not sustainable," Tobias Billström told the Saturday edition of the Dagens Nyheter newspaper.

The minister's Moderate Party, a conservative group and the largest member of Sweden's centre-right coalition government, has tasked Billström with looking at ways to lower the "volumes" of immigrants entering the Scandinavian country, he said.

The party wants the country's immigration policy to remain "humane," he added.

Some of those applying for residency are covered by Sweden's maintenance requirement, which says applicants must be able to support themselves and have a home to be eligible.

But Billström claimed the policy only covered one percent of those applying for visas on family reunification grounds.

"Today, people are coming to households where the only income is support from the municipality. Is that reasonable?" he said.

The anti-immigrant Sweden Democrats said in a statement it welcomed Billström's "awakening."

"One thing is clear, the Sweden Democrats are influencing the debate in the right direction," it said.

The Sweden Democrats entered parliament in 2010 after winning 5.7 percent of the vote, and polls currently put its support at just under 10 percent.

The number of residence permits issued by Sweden rose to an all-time high last year, with refugees accounting for most of the 19 percent rise.

In total, Sweden received just under 44,000 asylum applications in 2012.

Only two European countries received more: France (60,000) and Germany (64,000), according to the Swedish Migration Board.

The number of Syrians seeking asylum rose 12-fold, and the agency said in December it expected to receive up to 18,000 Syrians this year.

Perhaps there is hope for Scandinavia after all.

So much is right about my part of the World.

Without Socialism, political correctness and Muslim immigration, Scandinavia would truly be like paradise - at least if you enjoy things in life like magnificent career opportunities, great food, high wages, vodka, beer, nice cars, beautiful landscapes, ice hockey, fascinating architecture and extremely good looking and highly intelligent women.

Greetings to all Americans and others who view things my way!

Sincere thanks for your support.

Sweden’s not happy with the EU...nor is Britain. And I’ve heard it said that several other northern European members aren’t happy either.Perhaps before long the EU will consist of Germany, the Siesta Bloc,Romania and Bulgaria.

Unless I've badly misunderstood many, many news stories coming out of Scandinavia in recent years,Western Culture,it would seem that your "world view" is enormously different than that of the typical Scandinavian. Please do correct me if I'm wrong....and I hope I *am* wrong.

Great country —wonderful. But too many retrograde haters of modern society. Those turbaned insects want to bring Sweden back to the 7th century.

They’re very clear about not wanting to integrate.

Moors vs. Vikings. What's the opening line?

- I believe a lot of native Swedes view things like I do, but feel afraid of expressing their opinions.

I hear a lot of complaints about our immigration policy where ever I go in Europe, but for some reason, not only Swedes but Europeans in general are afraid of saying “Enough is enough!”

Muslims do not belong in Europe and if we really wish to aid people who flee from wars, oppression and starvation we must realize there are better ways of helping them than letting them in over here.

There's no future to be found in Europe for, say, a young person from Somalia even if he/she is willing to work hard and become a productive member of a democratic, free society.

What the Western World and our allies like Japan, Chile and South Korea etc. ought to do is remain true to our ideals of freedom and fight tyranny home and abroad. We should help everyone in parts of the World like Iran and North Korea who is on our side change their own destiny, BUT help them do so ON THEIR OWN SOIL!!

We Westerners do not counteract phenomena like Islamofascism by giving asylum to each and everyone from the Muslim World, and we do not aid ourselves by doing so.

But why do Europeans fear to speak their minds? I guess one major reason is a sense of guilt; guilt connected with Colonialism, guilt connected with lenience towards the Soviet Union, guilt connected with Nazi Germany and guilt connected with collaboration with the Nazis.

However, if Europe continues to embrace the insanity of political correctness, Socialism and Multiculturalism, we Europeans will increase our burden of guilt even more as it will mean the end of true civilization and everything righteous and beautiful we have inherited.

Today, the Western World is standing at a crossroads;

Will we honor our heritage through choosing to embark on a journey towards a new Renaissance and a new millennium of progress, enlightenment, prosperity and freedom OR will we continue down the road of outdated Socialism, self-abnegation and cultural masochism together with sickening 19th and 20th century garbage?

I recently read this. Very sad.

MOHAMMEDAN FEMINISM SPREADING TO THE WEST

Sweden now has the second highest number of rapes in the world, after South Africa, which at 53.2 per 100,000 is six times higher than the United States. Statistics now suggest that 1 out of every 4 Swedish women will be raped.

Sweden, like the rest of the West, will have to come to terms with the fact that it can either have female equality or Muslim immigration. It cannot have both.

Muslim “men” are welcome over here as long as they agree to undergo castration and receive a ticket back home.

Welcome to the Land of the Vikings!
