You know, Travic McGee and I occasionally communicate off-forum, and we both came to the conclusion that the 2nd -- while important as he**! -- is not the end-all and be-all any more.

The internet is as important to civilians and keeping tyranny at bay, as is command of the air by a military occupying force.

Simply put, the internet is the new air, and cybersavvy people are the new Air Force.

Egypt shows us the power of the internet. Let us remain vigilent in the commanding the internet, as it is a serious force multiplier.

I could not agree more. That is why the Bosheviks and the Mensheviks are both whimpering in eagerness to control it. Porn, gambing, etc. etc. will flow unchecked - the new opiate of the masses has its uses. Political discourse, especially what will be defined as ‘extreme’ will be targeted.

The subjects of former Soviet Union were able to do a lot though, and with far fewer resources. SAMIZDAT hand written press, in a totalitarian state where sheets of paper were to be accounted for. The slow and almost imperceptible erosion of the CPUSSR’s policies and popularity by samizdat definitely played a role in the downfall of the Soviet Union. When the Day arrived, most Soviet subjects were apathetic or were enthused about the fall of the tyranny in their ‘Beltway’.

Our Statists are mentally stuck in a 1930s - 1970s loop. They are decades behind those they would like to control. Obama and his circle are a case in point. Not one original idea, even bad ones, have come from them. It is all the recycled plodding plottings of long dead Marxists.

Command of the air is way over-rated; it is command of the ground that matters*. -- This is why the Russia was bled out over Afghanistan, as one story had it a general [or was it 'governor'] said "during the day we control thousands of miles, during the night we control a few blocks."

* W/o 'ground' the air-force is dead, with the limit of their fuel-tank being their operational limit -- aircraft carriers are themselves a bit of 'land' in the sea, but even they aren't true land because they can't produce all the things necessary to keep things up in the air w/o real ground.
