Actually, this is one case where holding would be a brilliant play.

Every Raven should have been holding on that play.

The penalty for holding in the end zone is a safety. But the clock still runs until the play is over.

So, if they all held, they could have kept anybody from tackling until the play was over.

Now, there would still be one more play, because of the penalty.

But that would have still meant the kickoff would be the last play of the game.

By holding, they knock the clock down enough so that the 49s can’t run the ball back far enough and still have time for a field goal.

Really? That doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't every defense hold on every goal line third down play?

The penalty for OFFENSIVE holding in the end zone is a safety. The penalty for defensive holding is 5 yards (or half the distance) and a first down. The play was another case of one team cheating, and the refs letting it go because they cheated when it most mattered.

The Ravens owe those refs a ring of their own.
