Hayes Guest On Hagel Hearing: 'A Republican Purge, A Maoist Public Shaming'

Surprised they didn't opt for the Inquisition analogy . . .

On Chris Hayes's MSNBC show this morning, Ali Gharib, editor of the "Open Zion" blog at the Daily Beast, described the questioning of Chuck Hagel at his Senate confirmation hearing as "a Republican purge" and a "Maoist public shaming." Michael Hastings of the Rolling Stone begged to differ, finding it more reminiscent of "Stalin."

The only person that shamed Hagel was, oddly enough, Hagel.

I could be wrong, I usually am, but i am still perplexed as to why they jumped all over Hagel and let Kerry pass unscathed.

Are they so frightened of Democrats that they take out their frustrations on a Republican because they are terrified to do it to a Democrat?

While we all know Kerry’s background of treason, Cowardice, his shooting of a Viet Cong POW, his Band-aid wounnds, his refusal to provide his F-180, most of us never heard of Chuck Hagel.

Yet Hagel has so animated his supposed friends in the Republican Senate, that they want to publicly lynch him while ignoring the Turd they let pass.

I just cannot understand it.

Actually, it reminds me of the confirmation hearings of both R. Bork and C. Thomas only this time, no one’s make stuff up.

Thanks to Senator Cruz, Chuck Hagel will be remembered as the man who less than a decade after the worst terrorist attack in American history, brought shame to himself and demonstrated his bizarre character. He appeared on Al Jeezera, the Arab network financed by the same people who motivated and financed the 9/11 attackers and labelled America the “world’s bully” and suggested the United States should unilaterally disarm. Historians will be eternally grateful to Senator Cruz for demonstrating the type of man the Democrats endorse for high office in the age of Obama.

Well, this is confusing. Don’t liberals see Stalin and Mao as their homies?

Answer: money

Sec. of Defense holds huge influence over where the DOD money is spent...

Sec. of State.....well at least in this administration is simply a figure head for Obama to blame when his policy F’s up...

Good Point, and points out what I have stated time and again. These guys do not love our country, They are all there for the perks, the money and the easy life.

Obama nominated Hagel because he is trying desperately to find someone who can make Biden look smart.

Hagel appeared to have had either a mild stroke or some really bad dope...

Have they forgotten the heinous Clarence Thomas smears?

Maybe the nets should consider not using commentators who are too young to remember the 80s.

What do you call Republicans purging Hagel?

A start.

I might add that giving John F’ing Kerry a pass on his confirmation can be seen as a plus for the pubbies...

His Senate replacement could not be any more liberal..and when his seat is up for election... We have a shot at a moderate democrat...

Also Kerry will be the fall guy for all of this administrations foreign policy disasters that most assuredly will happen...

I am sure many senators are snickering behind his back thinking... What a tool...

All kidding aside I found myself wondering, based on the drooping lip in the photo below, whether Hagel might have had some kind of stroke-like incident.

"Some people say" he has a drinking problem. Rather than take him out on that - they will try to get him on his past statements, which will be a mistake - he will be confirmed.

This from the cretins who destroyed Bork and Thomas.

First - Hagel doesn’t know the difference between Containment and Prevention and Obama’s Iran policy. He sounded like an idiot, and was unprepared. I was not impressed. Sen Cruz was very effective by throwing his words back at him. He was on Al Jazeera calling America a “global bully”, we don’t need that kind of nonsense at the Pentagon. Then he didn’t have the balls to own up to his statements - not even an attempt.

Second - have these imps ever seen the Bork Hearings, or for that matter, Sam Alito’s hearing when Ted Kennedy called him a racist. For once the Dems got a tiny smattering of some aggressive interrogatory, which was true, not like their media protected lies, and their reaction is to start yelling Stalin, and Mao. What BS artists!
