PITTSBURGH (KDKA) An overwhelming crowd once again showed up at a local gun show Saturday.
Thousands of gun enthusiasts showed up for the Pittsburgh Gun Show at the Monroeville Convention Center.
Gun shows have been inundated with significantly more attendees than usual since the recently proposed assault weapons ban.
Sales of many assault-type weapons have boomed since the ban was proposed as worried gun enthusiasts scramble to purchase guns that may become outlawed.
Organizers of the Monroeville gun show say they expect 10,000 visitors in a three-day period. Thats a 40 percent increase over their normal numbers says C & E Gun Shows President Steven Elliott.
Weve had spikes before, obviously, Elliott said.
But Elliot says this years a little different. Each gun show is just a little bit bigger and a little longer.
Its lasting longer because they wont let it die, he said. I mean its like they keep bringing up gun control everyday almost and the media keeps reporting it and it keeps growing and growing and growing.
And although more people are showing up to buy guns, Elliot says the real money maker has been ammunition.
I dont know why, he said.
I guess he doesn't know if you don't have ammo for a gun, it's just a club. Plus, if there is ammo there to buy, they're getting it since there is none on the web - it's all sold out. I think Elliot is not too bright about ammo.
I was there util about 4 pm. Prices were ok but not great. Bought some different things....gas masks and a small stun gun for when I’m running, although my .38 revolver runs with me, too
7.62 x 39 Warsaw Pact rounds used to be $124 per thousand. What are they now?
I brought all kinds at 60 dollars for 1200 back in the early 80’s
should have brought more.
Got a new Core15 - AR15 today. Its the only one I’ve seen for a few weeks besides the AR10 for about $4300.
Its made by the same people who were with Bushmaster before it was sold.
We don’t have any ammo or firearms on the market because the same thieving scared NYC Wall St billionaire SOBs we bailed out (that should have been bankrupt because of corruption and incompetence) are using our bailout money and the Fed Reserve as funding source to take over manufacturers and to buy ammunition. It is either an investment (like they did in oil and food) but most importantly it is to keep common folk from being armed. They know they can’t pass laws.
You think not, think again. Americans are so clueless. They can’t see beyond what they are told by pundits and pols. These greedy xxxxxrs want us disarmed and they are using our bailout and 0% Federal Reserve cash to buy out firearms and ammo before they come for our pensions.
I've seen prices in that vicinity for 500 rounds, so figure $250 per 1,000 rds (or more, depending on the manufacturer).
Are you sure about the Bushmaster story? Core is out of Florida; Bushmaster was up in Maine (the original facility is now the home of Windham Weaponry).
Also, no pics? C'mon, give!
Don't think it has the Black Hole Weaponry barrel.
Probably not my first choice but I wanted to get another rifle just in case and not much is left on the shelves.
I’m sure that the gun store told me he was and a little research also pointed to one of the executives joining core.
Not my first choice but the gun store recommended it and they are pretty good. I’ll get it to the range sometime soon and see how it performs.
