Stein knows what he’s talking about here. He experienced the political ramifications of nationalized health care in Britain and Canada. Any rational person would have avoided nationalization looking at the history of the Brits and Canadians if their interest was creating great health care... but it is rational if your interest is creating political influence and power.
God help us.
There was a thread awhile ago with a fairly old paper I think talking about how the money flowing through the economy is like a creek flowing into a lake. Once the money is in the population’s hands (the lake), it is hard to take it back out. Of course there are taxes, but the money is already being used in the individual’s interests funding business, etc.
The trick is to divert the money from the creek before it even gets to the lake. Government health insurance, and soon - Government health CARE (to fix the “crisis” created by Obamacare), will take a huge chunk of money (and power) out of the private market and directly into the government.
