As someone who has lived next door to made members of the Chicago Outfit going back to 1962, I find your post offensive.
No self respecting mobster would willingly associate with 0bama-like scum.
Well, I said that many of these guys probably worked for a “subsidiary” of the Outfit, not the Mafia itself. Not entirely under their control, but respecting certain understood territorial and other limits. I believe that South Chicago is pretty much farmed out to such guys.
I had a friend who lived in Brooklyn Heights near a couple of guys who were made members, back in the old days. He said that no ordinary muggers would dare venture onto that block.
Also, I believe that Mayor Daley was replaced by Rahm Emmanuel, presumably with someone’s approval.
