We recently lost our very efficient mouse trap, our 13-year-old cat. He ran away on January 21, in sub-freezing weather, and we have not been able to find him.

Wonder what the FDA will say when rats and mice get into baby formula, foods, pharmaceuticals, milk. It doesn’t matter?

My neighbors put D-Con in their yard to deal with rats. One of those rats ate the D-Con and escaped into my yard. My wife's hunting dog, a Jack Russell Terrier, ate the poisoned rat. We found his bloated body with flies in his mouth. Too late to fix that mistake. He didn't deserve to die that way.

“The peasants are not allowed to have any pesticides or herbicides that actually work.”
Actually they are. I still have chemicals from 15 years ago that Clinton outlawed. They work fine.
The key is to track this stuff, and know when they will be pulled from the shelves, for the EPA is actually telling us WHAT WORKS. In this case, between the time that I read this thread and now posted, I already ordered $100 worth of the stuff...even though I’ve NEVER had a rodent problem.

But they’re dangerous. Toxicity Testing using rodents proved that.

Be advised that when you absolutely have to have mouse and rat poison, it is about as important as having a gun when you are being home invaded. A rat can crawl through a hole the size of a nickel, and when you get one, you probably have dozens.
They carry lots of diseases, ruin food stores, even make a home uninhabitable. And they stink. And they can breed like crazy.
The gestation period for a rat is about 3 weeks, and baby rats can reproduce at 5 weeks. And rats will mate with any rat of the opposite sex, even incestuously.
Bottom line: Store up a goodly amount of rat poison. It keeps, and when you need it, you *really* need it.

This is going to hurt my sale of Vitamin K-1. People are going to use the more dangerous forms of rat bait that kills the rat within hours after ingestion. Right now, we have almost a three day window of opportunity to start administering the antidote for D-Con before serious symptoms begin in cases of accidental ingestion. To me this means the animals presented to me are going to be in more serious condition and the outcomes will not be as happy.

“Hey, kids, waddya wanna do next? We got rid of coal, oil, gas, smoke, rat poison, and cats. How about asphalt and concrete? Dogs, of course. And children!! yeah, that’s it! I’ll start on some press releases right away. The no-gun zone in the schools is a good start.”

EPA or any other department should not have the power to write legislation, it should always go through congress and the proper process.
Not that's it's much of a safeguard in this day and age but it would be at least something.
