Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that she is not inclined to run for president in 2016 but left the door open for what is widely considered her likely return to politics after she steps down as secretary of state.
Im not thinking about anything like that right now, Clinton smilingly told a questioner. I am looking forward to finishing up my tenure as secretary of state and then catching up on about 20 years of sleep deprivation.
Clinton, who steps down Friday as one of the best-known secretaries of state, is also among the worlds most admired women and the object of intense speculation about her future.
At the Newseum in Washington, in a wide-ranging online question-and-answer session with students from around the world, Clinton said she will write a memoir and work on causes dear to her.
That includes the cause of women in politics, she said, even as she sidestepped a question posed by a young woman in London about whether she will reprise her 2008 run for the Democratic nomination for president.
I do want to see more women compete for the highest positions in their countries, Clinton said, and I will do what I can, whether or not it is up to me to make a decision on my own future. I right now am not inclined to do that, but I will do everything I can to make sure that women compete at the highest levels not only in the United States but around the world.
Plenty of people are eager to see her run. A super PAC supporting Clinton for president in 2016, Ready for Hillary, was registered with the Federal Election Commission on Friday.

I predict another LISTENING TOUR coming up in 2015 or earlier...........
What she means is she is waiting for enough people to get the bad taste of Bengahzi out of their mouths first.
I can’t imagine her running in 2016. I suppose it’s possible, but highly unlikely. Just considering her health at this point precludes it. Don’t get me wrong. If “they” can somehow shut down fox news and all the conservative internet sites she might have a tiny chance, but that is about it.
Must we endure 2.5 years of this phony “will she/won’t she” horseflop before she finally declares in July of 2015? I seriously cannot wait for the day when the two white trash hillbillies are no longer on the world stage.
The Hill a lush much like Ted Kennedy will be in rehab and not able to run for anything!
To be frank, the final piece that convinced me she is done politically was the lines in the lens over her left eye. It brings home the severity of what happened to her.
Of course, that is just on top of everything else that she has “accomplished” in her career.
Bengazi will have fully baked by 2016 and ready to eat. It will be bitter.
The Presidency will only be taken from her cold dead hands. She will run..even if she is an invalid. The press will ignore her health...no medical records will be revealed.
Why should she run when she can ride a broom?
.....and anyone who dares to question the state of her health will be demonized as cruel and heartless.
People don’t fully grasp how different the nation is than it was four years ago. It will go through two to ten times more changes in the next four years. For starters, Obamacare will have hit. And there will be a LOT of disgruntled 47%ers. And that is assuming the world’s economy has not collapsed by then.
Either liberalism will have been outed by then or the main thing on your mind will by avoiding the mark of the beast, assuming you are still alive.
Either way, Hillary is irrelevant.
She’ll run. She’s too power-hungry. Her biggest problem, if elected, will be to keep Bubba away from the cute little gals who work in the White House.
I agree with you. Her opportunity is behind her now. Older, old, less popular, really hard to look at, and her stint as Foreign Secretary has really hurt her resume. Just as we are reading about the grooming of the fourth generation of Bushes, look for Chelsea to start easing into the limelight.
That too.
Yep. As I’ve seen the Chelsea stories in the news I’ve been wondering when she’s gonna run for something to get the ball rolling.
Hillary said that she announced way too soon last time. She has said that on several occassions and her underlings have said it.
Lesson learned.
Hillary could easily wait and be drafted in, and still be a shoe-in for the nomination.
