Just being picky, maybe, but the term “gunned down” seems to imply that she was the target. More likely she was collateral damage.

CBS 2s Mike Parker reports the victim, 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, was taking shelter from the rain with a group of 10 to 12 teenagers under a canopy in Vivian Gordon Harsh Park on the 4500 block of South Oakenwald Avenue around 2:30 p.m., when someone jumped a fence, ran up to them, and opened fire.
At least some of the people with her were from her school volleyball team. It's not clear whether the gang members were part of the volleyball team or not.
She was an honor student. I'm sure her parents were really proud of her. She was 15 years old and had probably a wonderful life ahead of her. By the way, this was not a kid from a normally high-crime neighborhood:

From all appearances, she seems to have been a lovely young woman in every sense of the word. She played in the band, played volleyball, was an honor student.
Gun control in Chicago has failed. This is one victim of the result of the policies in that liberal-run city.
And now we have a Chicago politician trying to impose the same on the rest of the country.
