The simple fact is that Judaism is closer to islam than it is to chrstianity because it is a statutory rather than a salvational religion. That's why I don't pile on in all those threads chrstian FReepers post about how good old "Judaeo-chrstian" friendship will triumph over mean nasty islam with all its rules. How dare G-d tell people how to live!
One of chrstianity's many problems (and it has several) is that it threw over (at least in part) statutory for salvational religion. Left wing social religion could not have developed without this first great error. The western "enlightenment" chrstian conservatives champion against islam (but not against chrstianity) is part of the problem. If "western civilization" had practiced a purely statutory religion things would probably not have gone south this fast.
I realize that everybody is out to get 'da jooooooos' ... and Jewish people never do any wrong ... (or so it appears, from the comments some folks post on this forum) ...
That's funny, since Jewish FReepers do considerably less whining and crying "bigotry" on this forum than do Catholics.
I’m with you, elder brother. Every word. Also, I believe the practices and statutes of God’s People mean something more to God than to the general Western population. There is an increasing Americanized abhorrence for religious “rules and regulations and religious community, and we’re all called “Pharisees”.
Though I of course do not understand how many layers of blinders my Jewish friends must require, or layers of ear flaps it must take to avoid seeing and hearing that their Messiah has come with their salvation and mine.
I mean God Himself drew pictures, in crayon, in your Book, so we stiff necked Jews and Gentiles would recognize Him in the rest of the Book.
I believe we Catholics and Jews have favor and share the same destiny, remnant though it may be.
Not to say that, by God’s Mercy, others can’t lumber in late, at 5:00, having done no work or very little, like me, and seek Mercy.
