SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. An arsonist was sentenced to death on Monday for killing five men who died of heart attacks during a wildfire that ripped through the hills east of Los Angeles a decade ago.
Superior Court Judge Michael Smith had the option of sentencing Rickie Lee Fowler, 31, to the harshest penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Yes, cheers for Judge Smith. It took a decade to get to sentencing. It’ll be another 2 or more to execute him.
Kill him now before some lib commutes his sentence.
The “death” sentence in California means life in prison. They just keep them in a different part of the prison.
So in otherwords he will live until he dies of old old age.
Wow! I’m all for capital punishment for first-degree murder, but that’s not what this was.
Oh yes, if a person is killed due to an act of intentional arson in CA the arsonist can be tried for first degree murder. Arson laws in CA and many states are tough, as they should be.
The death penalty is applied because of special circumstances (hired-killer or multiple homicides).
A death sentance in CA means you stay in a cell until you die of natural causes, or some liberal judge orders you released.
