Another article about this disgusting detsruction of an excellent and worthy institution.

A comment I saw elsewhere:

---- went to a meeting tonight. Here's his words, since he doesn't have an account here I figured a 1st person report was better.

I am on the committee of our son's troop. In the wake of yesterday's announcement by BSA we had an unplanned meeting with our district representative. I had half expected a canned speech encouraging us not to jump to conclusions, hang together, etc., but I couldn't have been further from the truth. He essentially said that the local district and council just got wind of this whole thing yesterday when it broke on the news. His opinion was that although the BSA won't officially make a decision until sometime next week, the deal has already been done behind closed doors. (I say this not to discourage anyone from contacting BSA to voice their objections, just to set realistic expectations. I myself intend to call, and would encourage any of you to do so as well.) It seems that since the Supreme Court "victory" that BSA won recently, there have been many corporate sponsors that have decided to discontiue their support either quietly or with public fanfare. The career scouters at BSA headquarters probably saw that their jobs were in danger, and are deciding in favor of income preservation over principle.

Anyway, he seemed to think that it was the beginning of the end of the BSA, and that many units or sponsoring organizations would decide at this point that they no longer wanted to affiliate themselves with the national BSA organization.

Pehaps local chapters need to start making their disaffiliation votes knows now.

That story seems more about damage control and preventing the mass exodus.

BTW the number to call is 972-580-2330
