The media are not covering this story despite the FBI agent in the emails saying that most of the information has been confirmed. If the allegations are true Menendez could be prosecuted under the 2003 PROTECT ACT making travel and having sex with minors knowingly or not a federal offense with up to 30 years in prison.
DOCUMENTS published online for the first time Thursday indicate that the FBI opened an inquiry into New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez on August 1, 2012, focusing on repeated trips he took to the Dominican Republic with longtime campaign contributor and Miami eye doctor Salomon Melgen. TheDC reported in November that Menendez purchased the service of prostitutes in that Caribbean nation at a series of alcohol-fueled sex parties.
The documents, which The Daily Caller had obtained hours earlier from an anonymous source, also indicate that Carrie Levine, research director at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), was alerted on April 9, 2012 to Menendezs habit of paying for sex while outside the United States.

Menendezs habit of paying for sex while outside the United States.
His logic:Tax dollars at work for the childern.
if tax dollars were used it was accounted for as a fact finding mission.
He just got reelected, despite all the investigations going on. NJ people are just plain dense.
Democrats will protect him to the bitter end because Christie would appoint a place holder. But the way Christie’s heading these days, it would be a 50/50 shot he would even appoint a Republican.
He didnt sleep with underage girls. He statutorily raped them.
********************************************
That may be true in the US but is that accurate for the Dominican Republic? And why do we care... If the Dominican Republic doesn’t prosecute why do we get involved?
I doubt any of the parties were actually sleeping.
Hey, he's probably paying those childern at least minimum wage.
First, there’s nothing illegal here. He didn’t violate any US law that I can see.
Now, if you can identify the news organizations that knew about this and just wouldn’t tell the story....that might be news. I’d like to hear about which media groups just dropped the story.
What is it with NJ Senators...?
The “torch”, the “corpse” and now the “perv”
If he was ‘sleeping’ with underage boys there would be no problems.
Age of consent in the Dominican Republic is 18. He was traveling internationally to do this so we are treaty bound to honor the treaties we have signed pursuant to sex tourism.
There are European airlines (Lauda Air and others) that make all their profits off of flights to Thailand that are heavily advertised on the underage sites and magazines... I understand that we have treaties but I don’t see where we should get involved. Let those countries file a complaint against our citizens , arrest them and keep them in Thailand/Dominican rep. etc. Our role should be to stand aside and let THEIR law enforcement do their job.
That is a resume enhancer for democRATs.

Reality check. Sex tourism is illegal and particularly with children it is prosecuted.
The FBI maintains offices in many foreign countries now to bring our offenders back to the US with less fuss. Look for missionary blogs from poorer asian countries and the topic of child brothels and the effort to rescue the kids comes up a lot.
Here is one: http://ratanakmissions.blogspot.com/?m=1
Indeed ever notice how many dems go on fact finding missions.
Being a dem he probably is paying them in IOU’s.
With Kerry moving to Secretary of State, Menendez is in line to become Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, thereby bringing a whole new meaning to that title. What a laughing stock. You can’t make this stuff up.
If Menendez raped 12 year olds, cut their bodies up and made snuff films the New York Times wouldn’t care. Media whores care about catching Republicans jay walking or something equally serious...
Hey New York Times and Washington Post - when I say ‘media whores’ I’m talking about you guys...
Had they been boys, there’d be even less coverage, if any at all.
