Dave Packard was a great man with a great idea.
Because of his business model thousands of people were brought along in his success.

He was however, always left leaning outside of business.

My husband had a wonderful career at HP (then to Agilent, to Philips Lighting-called LumiLeds), which as we know was (HP) destroyed by Carly.

I had thirty wonderful years at HP and met Dave Packard. Still have the HP Way book and wish it was being followed.

Your right, the culture of layoffs began with Carly and have continued with regularity. Profit sharing was abandoned shortly thereafter and the almost regular stock splits ended about that time too.

I was laid off a second time April 1 of 2010 (April fools day). It was a wonderful career and I miss the wonderful times and great people that I knew.

geez, Carly destroyed HP - I’m trying to think of the names of the two men that lasted less than 3 years as CEO after her, they cut RD spending by 30% or planned to sell off all hardware and go into the software business ala SAP...help how did Carly do that? Oh and the guy who replaced her - he was using a hooker to close deals - please. Maybe that is why the board fired him...hookers for sales people at HP. Carly may not have been everyone’s ideal, but she did last more than a few months on the job.
