COUNTRY CLUB HILLS A man shot and wounded Thursday morning by a supermarket clerk during a robbery attempt was charged today in the crime, police said.
Adam Willoughby, 20, of the 5700 block of Beldon Drive in Flordell Hills, was charged with attempted robbery. Police said he was in critical condition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital from gunshot wounds.
Police say a clerk at Mally Supermarket at 7445 West Florissant Avenue shot and wounded Willoughby when he tried to rob the store just before 6:30 a.m.
Court documents say Willoughby said to the clerk, "Give me your (expletive) money" and leaped over a counter in an attempt to grab the clerk's gun.
The clerk then shot the man three times, court documents say. Country Club Hills Police Chief Clifton Ware said at least one of the shots hit Willoughby in the abdomen. The clerk was not hurt.

Let me guess... next we'll see, "Clerk to be fired".
There is a strong recomemdation for gun ownership.
If someone has to get hurt or DIE in THAT scenario (and someone WILL), it of course should be the criminal.... not the other way around!
Gutshot. Alright
