Sign in Cairo’s Tahrir Square: ‘Obama you jerk, Muslim Brotherhoods are killing the Egyptians’

It was the incompetence,the corruption that riddled Mubarak’s rule of Egypt that allowed the Islamists to take power.If that country had been ruled justly,that situation would not have happened.

It is been proven time and time again,it is a losing game to send lives and treasure to defend an “ally” whose short-term interests are destroying a country.The President could have leaned more on Egypt to pass reforms,to clamp down on corruption and to change the way it was heading...nothing else could have been done to avert this deluge.

Boots on the ground,would have been stooges for an autocrat who dug his own grave out of sheer stupidity. Egyptians can organize to push out the Muslim brotherhood,on the streets by talking to each other and by getting the right hardware from the right places.The Islamists aren’t that intelligent either and it says a lot about Egypt’s past regime,that it wasn’t able to keep them at bay.

Let the population get armed,get educated and the Islamists along with any autocratic governments will be a thing of the past.

My brother has just returned this week from a New Year’s 3 week cruise holiday with his wife in Egypt (mainly the south, with a couple of days in Cairo). I’ve been housesitting for him.

They absolutely loved it, and said the Egyptians they met couldnt have been any nicer, couldnt have been any friendlier, and that tourist numbers are down, and the Egyptians desperately want Westerners to come and holiday.
