Senate hearing: 9:00a.m. EST. House hearing: 2:00 p.m. EST
Watch live here. Also on C-SPAN 3.
In her first testimony since the Benghazi attack, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will participate in a full day of hearings Wednesday about U.S. diplomatic security and the American mission in Libya.
Sec. Clinton will appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the morning followed by an afternoon testimony to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. In December, the State Department's highest ranking foreign service officers, William Burns and Thomas Nides, testified before Congressional lawmakers in the Secretary's place. They discussed a new report by an independent panel assessing the Benghazi attack.
Deputy Sec. Nides put several recommendations from a report on the attack into effect before the end of 2012. Implementing the rest, Nides said, will be underway by the time the next Secretary of State takes office. Three State Department officials have resigned since the report was released.
The two officials were substituting for Secretary Clinton, who was recovering from a concussion she suffered after fainting due to dehydration from a stomach virus.
Four Americans were killed in that attack, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens. Congress is investigating whether the State Department denied a request for extra security at that outpost earlier in the year and what actions were taken in the moments after the attack began.
If she starts cryng I MUST turn this off. She is so phony!!
Here come the ‘questions’.
Lindsay Graham is the one to watch here..he and Jason Chaffetz in the House this afternoon..
UGH!! Opening barf statements.....
It is really a toss up which person I cannot tolerate more, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. I really cannot stand to listen to her.
Why is there a time limit? Shouldn’t they continue to ask questions until they are done? Even if it takes a few days to complete?
Ugh! She’s calling him “Chris”. Not “Ambassador”.
Whatever happened to those three State Dept employees who were said to be “fired”..then it turned out they were reassigned?
She is referring to the murdered ambassador as Chris. I find that disgusting. I guess ‘polling’ has concluded that it is a positive approach.
So Stevens wanted to stay.......hmmmm, what were these communications from him expressing concern and begging for more security.
That’s what I was going to say.
Our hero, Hillary Clinton.
If these GOP senators don’t ask the hard, yet obvious questions...there will indeed be hell to pay..it’s good that the House follows...they get to hear this BS before hand..
WHERE THE HELL are the 30+ people that escaped from the Consulate before and during the attack?
WHO are they?
Where are they?
Why haven’t we heard a single word from them?
Is she going filibuster the answers to every question. Come on Corker just ask a question with out the speech!
Hillary is not taking responsibility for anything. They need to question her personal role in all of this. That is why she is supposed to be there. It isn't supposed to be about more resources for the Department.
This is for the LIV’s. Emotions and feelings can be repeated in the press to help blind the public to her gross incompetence.
Hillary is saying that her response to the crisis was having meetings with department heads from every conceivable agency . That seems to be the total of their response. Have meetings.
