Golfers like Woods and Mickelson make 80-90% of their earnings from endorsements. Mickelson made somewhere in the neighborhood of $4 million in tournaments and approx $45 million in endorsement deals. Same for Tiger — just different amounts. Before Tiger’s fall he was making nearly $90 million a year in endorsement income. Moving to Florida would save Mickelson millions on his off course earnings.

I agree with your comment on the endorsement income and getting it removed from high tax states is a legitimate tax strategy. They just don’t have any options about the locus question on where they play/win and the taxes that will be extracted.

Just think of all the good they could do with that money if governments weren’t forcibly taking it from them. They could create private sector jobs by buying more luxury goods. Every dollar spent in the private sector helps someone while each dollar spent in the public sector goes to grow the bureaucracy.
