GALLUP: ONLY 39 PERCENT HAVE POSITIVE VIEW OF AMERICA
Big Government ^

Posted on 01/22/2013 1:34:34 PM PST by SMGFan

When people say that Barack Obama is the worst president since Jimmy Carter, they’re not kidding; a new Gallup Poll taken between January 7-10 shows that when Americans were asked whether they had a positive view of the country, only 39% agreed.

This is the lowest percentage since August 1979, when Carter was president, inflation was out of control and the economy was hurtling toward the abyss. The percentage of those who believe that things will be better in five years is only 48%, the lowest since that same time period under Carter.

Another 40% said things will be worse. When they were asked whether the United States stood five years ago, 55% said things were better, indicating their belief that the more they have seen of Barack Obama, the worse they have felt. But even that figure is revealing in other ways; the 55% number is the most negative number since 1991. In contrast, at the beginning of George W. Bush’s first term, in January 2001, a whopping 73% of those polled were positive about America.

Exactly. They keep electing him and America is tilting Left fast and hard.

I’m tiring of general poll questions being used to make a point. People might have a negative view of America because it isn’t Socialist enough.

America is done. It’s on the edge of the toilet bowl, ready to fall in, and take it’s rightful place.

America is a nation of takers, and corruption. A place where group status matters more than anything. A place where competence and success is hated. A place where reality stars are valued more than real leaders. A place where not following the communist line will cause a public shunning of the offender.

I hate what this country has become.

Do not know if you saw it or not, but this guy’s administration just appointed a “Muzzie” to be the Safety Director for AMTRAK; the nation’s railroad passenger carrier. What a selection!! I cannot believe the people of this country and what they are thinking; or not thinking. You hit the nail on the head.

Precisely, but if so many people have a negative view of America and Hussein 0bama, it further sparks suspicion that the election was stolen.

Nor was Jimmeh a jihadist sympathizer.

Or was he....???

He certainly had no love for Israel...

I'm sure there were shennanigans, but Romney was an unacceptable candidate. I voted for George Washington and kept my dignity. The guy was more liberal than Bill Clinton !!

I agree, yet the Marxist media keeps showing his mug on TV and
and proclaiming him to be the most popular in history, as if he were the second coming of the messiah.
I am sick at the sight of him and instantly cut the TV whenever he pops up on the screen or on my computer.
I am so thankful not to be in Obozoland.

"On the morning of 21 December Ceauşescu addressed an assembly of approximately 100,000 people, to condemn the uprising in Timişoara. Party officials took great pains to make it appear that Ceauşescu was still immensely popular. Several busloads of workers, under threat of being fired, arrived in Bucharest's Piaţa Palatului (Palace Square, now Piaţa Revoluţiei – Revolution Square) and given red flags, banners and large pictures of Ceauşescu. They were augmented by several bystanders who were rounded up on Calea Victoriei.

In a speech laden with the usual Marxist-Leninist "wooden language", spurting out pro-socialist and Communist Party rhetoric, Ceauşescu delivered a litany of the achievements of the "socialist revolution" and Romanian "multi-laterally developed socialist society". He blamed the Timişoara uprising on "fascist agitators."

However, Ceauşescu was out of touch with his people and completely misread the crowd's mood. The people remained unresponsive, and only the front rows supported Ceauşescu with cheers and applause. Eight minutes into the speech, some in the crowd actually began to jeer, boo, whistle and utter insults at him—a reaction considered unthinkable for most of Ceauşescu's rule. Workers from a Bucharest power plant started chanting "Ti-mi-şoa-ra! Ti-mi-şoa-ra!"—a chant that was soon picked up by others in the crowd. In response, Ceauşescu raised his right hand in hopes of silencing the crowd; his stunned expression remains one of the defining moments of the end of Communism in Eastern Europe. He then tried to placate the crowd by offering to raise workers' salaries by 100 lei per month (about 9 US dollars at the time, yet a 5–10% raise for a modest salary) and student scholarships from 100 to 110 lei while continuing to praise the achievements of the Socialist Revolution. However, a revolution was brewing right in front of his eyes."

That’s correct, under the present Administration, what the public thinks means absolutely nothing. This is particularly true among the Democratic Party mainstream news media, which is breathless from telling us how wonderful Obama is.

Let me qualify my own statement by saying... I have a positive view of most of America’s history, but I certainly am not happy with the history of the last 20 years or so. The last 4 years have been absolutely terrible.
