I realize that there has to be a “villain” in these training scenarios, and I am concerned that the trend is toward “right wingers”, gun owners, liberty-conscious people, et al. However, what alternatives could they use that would be useful in a training context that would not result in a major backlash among victim advocacy groups? I mean, us white guys are the last remaining group that can’t be considered “victims”. In the binary Marxist world, we are the oppressors, right?

A DHS sponsored training exercise could hardly start with the scenario — “EBT cards fail to function and inner city blacks riot” ... or “OWS protestors march on and burn military recruitment offices and banks”, or “Muslim terrorists take over a school on a suicide mission a la Beslam.” The reactions from the media and victim advocacy groups would be deafening and 24/7 until everyone in the chain of command apologized personally for their insensitivity and underwent 200 hours of sensitivity training.

But if they use otherwise law-abiding whites or gun-owners as the “villain”, they won’t get heat from the press, and we have no advocacy groups to howl at the injustice of it. We retreat to our keyboards and whine to each other, and no one is threatened, no one feels bad for being so insensitive, etc. It’s just so much easier than any of the 10,000 other scenarios that would bring heat on the participants and planners.

I am not saying we shouldn’t be pissed about it, nor that it does not represent a dangerous trend. It’s just so much “easier” than any other alternative.

Nope. I don’t accept that. If “don’t step on toes” is the rational, they have 100+ years of the standard excercise protocal, naming the villains the “Orangeland Liberation Front” or such.

Naming white men, tea party, 2nd Amd supporters etc as teh enemy in West Point papers, War College journals, etc is TOTALLY NEW, and dangerous.

The reason is that we are the ones that are most likely to resist and do so with a credible and identifiable means...

We are a much more credible threat to the establishment than the following...

EBT’ers and OWS’ers are just useful idiots to muddy the waters when the actual crackdown (on people like us) begins...
