I have found that arguing with people who want drugs lagalised is a terrible waste of time, so excuse me for not carrying this further.

I lean to the side of legalization. I don't minimize the arguments against it.

But weren't all drugs legal, including opium, until about 100 years ago?

It went to crap when some bureaucrat convinced Congress it should be illegal for a doctor to prescribe drugs to a patient just to prevent withdrawl because he’s become addicted.
