When did NYC get yellow buses? I do not recall seeing them. I was so jealous of my “upstate” friends who had this pick up service.

I lived on 139 St Riverside Drive and went to school on 79th street, east side. That’s two bus transfers or two subways depending on the weather. We had bus passes back then.

(Mostly) went to Catholic School in Goshen NY, lived about 8 miles away in New Hampton and rode the County School Bus.
Seems like someone complained about the Catholics riding the bus and they were going to cut off the ‘privilege’.
The County HS was on top of hill, the Catholic grade/high school in middle of hill, elementary school at the bottom, all on same street and ‘we’ met at the nearest bus stop so only thing ‘out of ordinary’ was the stop in the middle of the hill.

The Priests mentioned it at Mass one Sunday and said maybe ‘we should let ‘them’ know if the outlying students can’t use the bus they will have to transfer to the Public School etc.

Bus service never did stop? hmmm wonder why?....Maybe the County ‘enjoyed’ collecting the fees for us and didn’t want to start having to spend them on us???
