During the Vietnam draft era standards for troops in the regular infantry units were pretty low. We should bear that in mind when every now and then someone wants to bring back the draft.
Everybody looks down on somebody. I don't think this made it into the movie, but the book Blackhawk Down reveals the Delta Force boys looked down on the Rangers.
