Remember he only changed to the Republican party from the rat party because he had no chance getting elected mayor when Rudy Guiliani couldn’t run anymore. He changed back to his rat party when he ran for reelection, and when he ran for his second reelection he declared himself Independent, and as everyone knows Independents are those who are embarrassed to admit that they are liberals
Right, why navigate the racial minefield of the NYC rat primary when you can just buy the GOP nomination instead. He beat Herman Badillo, a reformed former liberal who may have been a good Mayor, in the GOP primary. It’s questionable though if Badillo could have won the general election as Bloomberg’s money was a prime factor in his winning.
Of course Bloomy was never REALLY a Republican but he remained one officially until 2007, after his first reelection.
He is and always was a democrat in everything but name. If I lived there I would have voted for the regular democrat in the last election before I’d vote for him. Next to Obama and my own local pieces of garbage here in Chicago I can’t think of a politician I like less. Perfect example of a Napoleon complex.
On top of everything he’s rumored to be a swish.
