Everybody would like to think that they can decide what is better for someone else. Its the parental viewpoint. But what theyre really deciding is whats best for THEM. When you make that decision you are making yourself the parent and the other person the child. I recall a high-level American official back in the 60s who said, The Chinese will not develop nuclear weapons. Its not in their interest. I was a child and I knew he was wrong. Shortly after China exploded their first bomb. Youd think that people would learn that only the other person can see their interests and decide what is best. (But, then, that would be a Conservative view.) After the fall of the Soviet Empire a former Communist asked an American diplomat why America was so successful. He answered, Because for 200 years every morning the American populous gets up and works to improve their lives. Notice, he didnt say to pay taxes and give money to the government.
But that is what he does.
...One wolf is good and peaceable, and the other is evil and angry. The two wolves are in constant battle with one another, since neither is powerful enough to destroy the other. The young man asks the elder "But if they are of equal power, which wolf will win?" And the elder replies, "The one you feed the most."
Say what you will...tell yourself you believe in liberty and responsible government...but you're feeding the wolf of tyranny.
