A judge has denied two Fullerton police officers' request to drop charges against them in the fatal beating of Kelly Thomas, a mentally ill homeless man, according to court documents obtained by NBC4 on Friday.
In a Jan. 4 decision (PDF), Orange County Superior Court Judge William R. Froeberg ruled there was enough "competent evidence to show the commission of a crime or the defendant's connection with it."

I’M Glad to see the wheels of justice slowing rolling forward in this case. With all of the NoN-Lethal equipment the police have in their possession today there was NO Damned reason they had to beat that man to death.
Hopefully they get what they deserve.
Cops drunk on power .
Unimaginable
Hearing mentally challenged Kelly Thomas yelling for his dad while being beaten to death by Jay Cicinelli and Manuel Ramos is about as heartrending as it gets.
This abuse by government agents (now on trial - thank God), is what happens to a lot of people in a police state, and a lot more of it will happen in the liberals’ nationalizing police state for which they are hell bent.
Incredibly, the liberals think, that what happened to Kelly Thomas, will *NOT* happen to the liberals! Many of whom, are older liberals of the 1960’s and 1970’s who used to *claim* that they were against such abuses?
We have barely heard a hint about “prison conditions” that the left rant about *when the President is a Republican* -— Where is all the outrage from the liberals, about all the forms of assault ongoing in prison, now that Obama is President? ZZZzzzz...
Obama has yet to utter: “We cannot have bad cops and government agents who abuse their powers, on our streets.”
ZZZzzz...
I saw the video tape of that poor man being murdered. It’s imprinted in my mind. Thank goodenss the murderers are not getting away with what they did without a trial. : (
