Well stated. We are outvoted by an unholy coalition of people who want to be managed and the people who aspire to manage them.
This is beyond what politics alone can solve, this is at heart a moral and spiritual sickness.
Freedom requires first of all a people who want to be free. It requires people who are morally prepared to govern themselves and are prepared to pay the costs of their own decisions.
Once you no longer have that consensus, its all mafias and kings from that point forward.
We live in a world in which people will gladly give up their own freedom in return for the right to rule their neighbor, and in return for a promise that they will be spared the pain that is inherent to human life. In exchange for that promise they will demand a king and they will get one.
They won’t get the relief from pain or the prosperity they were promised, but they will continue to choose a king for as long as the promise is renewed because having a king to blame is better than blaming yourself.
That is exactly right and the gummit has become the king until it turns into a dictator.
