Do your elected officials know the meaning of the 2nd Amendment?

I’ll have to call Casey’s office and see if they know. I always tell people that the 2nd A is the Enforcement Clause - none of the other rights really have any guarantee without the 2nd! We’ll see what Casey’s folks have to say...

I don’t think yours is the right answer. The amendment servrs to protect us from anything, including but not limited to the government. It protects us from all enemies foreign and domestic. It equips us to restrain an encroaching government, repel foreign invasion, and repress domestic insurrection.

Fundamentally, though, it is for self defense. Everything else derives therefrom.
