We Americans were the ONLY one’s who used it in the field. Germany decreed that any American caught with that “barbaric” weapon, be executed on the spot. Americans responded that for every American so executed, 10 Germans would suffer the same fate.
The decree was rescinded. But, the bitter taste lingered on. Even the French got the heebiejeebies around Americans with shotguns.
