Peter Gleick, a scientist, a well-known advocate of global warming, and formerly the chairman of the American Geophysical Union task force on scientific ethics, impersonated someone else in order to steal documents from the Heartland Institute, a think-tank known for global warming skeptic leanings. When those documents were not incriminating, Gleick apparently forged an additional document designed to cast the Heartland Institute in a bad light

You can't make this stuff up

Oh, dear, this is so troubling.

I’m a scientist. I work on subjects that have direct impact on human health (toxins/infectious disease). It is very concerning to me to see the credibility of ALL scientists questioned because a small group of scientists in a rather small field have aligned themselves with authoritarian politicians under the guise of concern about “anthropogenic global warming.” Because of their actions, the motives of all of us are questioned.

The politicization of Science happened decades ago. I have worked in the Medical field for a long time and in the late 70’s-early 80’s I noticed research papers that were getting the result that the researcher wanted. One big example is in the claim that homosexuality is genetic. Research is ‘valid’ when two independent researchers come up with the same results. I saw the two researchers that had done the ‘gay is genetic’ studies interviewed on TV. They didn't seem independent at all and both were likely gay. When friends are alarmed at new ‘Medical research’ claims, I always tell them to wait 6 months, a different study will come out ‘proving’ the exact opposite. The result frequently depends on the researcher’s agenda and who is funding the research.
