Gee, is it

1) It was passed in middle of night 2) It was passed without anyone reading it 3) It was passed with a majority of the party in power against it 4) It prostituted all principles of conservatism in raising taxes on the majority of Americans 5) It was passed as a tax-heavy "compromise" with thinly-veiled spending reductions 6) The spending reductions were actually spending increases 7) It had higher spending than what both Pelosi and Reid originally wanted 8) All of the above

I’m glad my congressman was one of the 3 from Michigan who voted no.

RE :”65% of Republican voters disapprove of the plan”

Is this higher than any other bill that O signed into law since taking office?

I dont imagine the result of the debt limit and budget spending bills that he signs will poll any better.

Some say there are no differences between the parties but there are. For example:

Basically democrats fight and republicans roll over. The GOP is built to be loyal opposition party, a permanent minority that cannot and will not lead. They despise the base because their main goal is to get the trappings of power and status as a social elite and the base keeps embarrassing them with their "crazy" demands like low taxation, second amendment rights, enforcement of the laws, and freedom of religion. You know, things the NY Times will say they are hicks for supporting.

Obama is able to win because he knows that the GOP may make some weak gestures of protest about high taxes, massive debt, crushing regulation, and oppression of freedom but deep down these things don't really bother them. It's just a show for the base and if he gives them a way to abandon opposition to those things, they will every time. All he needs to do is create a crisis so they can say "what else could I do?" and everyone in DC is happy.
