He used to be the portfolio manager of Harvard University’s $34 Billion Endownment fund.
He was quite good at stewarding it too.
I read that he left when he disagreed with the investment direction the Board of Trustees wanted him to take, eventually becoming the CEO and co-CIO of PIMCO.
Disclosure: I have a huge chunk of my retirement fund under his management via my company 401K.
