Here’s a thought. Let the left-leaning States abandon the Constitution, while the rest of the States keep it. Then we can divide into two countries. Everybody would be happy.

No such luck ... within 10 years, the Union of American Socialist Peoples' Republics would be fomenting guerrilla insurrection in, and trying to invade, the (truncated) United States of America.

It's an opening. It is my belief that liberals and conservatives are now so far apart that we can no longer live amongst each other.

For the "professor": it's obvious he does not understand the Constitution. It's framework, and the difficulty in amending it, are its purpose. It was meant to be hard to amend/change! It was designed to limit government, something this "professor" obviously does not like or agree with.
