We already learn about the contributions of gays and lesbians, including the ones you mention. But just as in learning about sexually normative people, We don’t include learning about their private sexual lives. Is it really important to a young child that George Washington never fathered a child, that Benjamin Franklin had venereal disease, Willa Cather dressed like a man and lived with women, Hans Christian Andersen died a virgin, , or that LBJ had an illegitimate son?
Excellent point. BTW, I never heard any of those facts you just presented either. As you pointed out, that type of information is not necessary in a school lesson.
