One thing about having a gun in your home for protection is that it is the great "equalizer" - in theory, at least (you have to know how to use it). If someone breaks in, intending to harm me or my family, I at least have a chance to defend them. Take away my equalizer and we become easy targets for anyone with a gun or a knife, or a crowbar, or a ... to do whatever they broke in to do. In all the talk about registering guns, they have yet to figure out how to get the criminals who have them to obey the law. The fact that criminals HAVE guns is illegal but it doesn't seem to stop them! For some strange reason, the gun grabbing liberals never seem to have an answer for that.
