Grahamnesty just said Panetta told him that 800,000 DoD layoff notices go out Wednesday even if this apparent deal IS passed.
This is in addition to FY13’s existing 10% cut.
This is in addition to 10% cuts in other non-DoD areas this week.
Feinsteen said the cuts don’t account for priority, that high priority programs are also cut by 10% (actually 13.3% since it 3+ mo into the FY).
That’s a DoD budget that has been cut 23% since last year.
And they said they will still vote for it, and wait for Feb Debt Cieling debates.
Real reason: they can all say they cut without making difficult decisions or taking responsibility.

The Sequestration part of the fiscal cliff, that will cut almost 10% from the Dept of Defense immediately, is going to be "left out" of any "deal."
But, boys and girls, the Democrats get even more goodies! The Democrats will get and "extension" of unemployment "benefits" for the 99er layabouts. We live in Bizzaro World. Rep Shelley Berkeley (D-NV), who is so corrupt she could not help herself from steering taxpayer money to her husband's business, is one of the main driving forces to ensure that the unemployment gravy train keeps on a rolling (costing us another $200 Billion on top of the $750 Billion we have spent on paying people NOT TO WORK since 2008).
Meanwhile, the honorable in our nation, those who ensure the defense of this nation, are punished once again.
Engineers, logisticians, scientists, nurses, and countless other professionals who labor for the nation's defense are about to get royally screwed over, while the lazy and the corrupt are once again rewarded.

RE: Obama on MTP
Friday, Obama gave a presser speech regarding the fiscal cliff.
I watched via CNN. After O spoke, the camera went back to Candy Crowley, a male commentator, and female reporter at the WH.
Crowley was actually giggling when talking about what Obama said. Her implication was that what Obama said was unrealistic and naive. She went to break.
After the break, still talking about Obama’s brief speech, all three (Crowley, male commentator, female reporter) were giggling and laughing as they talked about what Obama said.
They must opened the New Year’s ‘bubbly’ early. I just couldn’t see CNN commentators overtly giggling and laughing at Obama, but maybe, even they were not impressed by The One’s spiel.
So did a lot of really important people die, or do we as a society just spend more time contemplating our navel than we used to?
I saw part of the segement, and I came away with, "Ray Bradbury and some other people died in 2012."
And when they come to me to complain, I will be tempted to say, "That's because Barack Obama thinks you're rich." Not sure what the reaction would be to that comment.
Did anyone else see Jonathan Karl on This Week MISQUOTE a comment they showed in a graphic on the show this morning?
I don’t remember who the quote was from, but I remember reading the graphic AS Jonathan Karl was reading it...the very end of the quote said something about “SMALLER government”, yet, Karl read it “BIGGER (or big) government”, and no one said a damned thing about it!
