Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) told a crowd gathered outside the U.S. Capitol on Friday that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has given “veto power to the most extreme members of the Tea Party caucus.”

Van Hollen called on the House to vote on a Senate measure that would raise taxes on individuals making more than $200,000 in order to avoid the fiscal cliff. The Democrat claimed that the Republican Boehner will not call for the vote because of the Tea Party caucus …

It seems to me that the reduced size of the Republican caucus has given the extreme tea party members more weight at this juncture. Boehner needs 218 votes to become the speaker in the 114th congress, and with a smaller number of pubs he can’t write very many off. This is one benefit to the last election.

Yeah, abiding by the Constitution, living within your means, and wanting smaller, acountable government is really “extreme.”

These libs are such morons.

As for Boehner, since when does he give the TEA Party the time of day?

Yep. Standard Proggie Playbook. Those who wish to limit government are “extreme”: those who wish to grow the welfare state are “common-sense”.

Why can’t we flip it on it’s head: we’re “worker bees” and they are “useless eaters”. Oops, that would require some intestinal fortitude on the part of the GOP-E. . . and we all know better than to expect THAT. . .

What I want to know is why Republicans have given veto power to a man with known and suspect Islamic ties. Is it possible that Grover Norquist is working for the economic destruction of the US, and the military weakness that sequestration holds in store?

I’ve always believed that everyone should make their own way in this world or quit taking up space on the planet!!!

Remarkable is the degree of terror the party of dope and champagne seems to have for the ordinary taxpaying participants of the Tea Party.

Marxist Van Hallen has sold his soul to the devil. Far outweighs anything the GOP did with the Tea Party, even if it was only in Chris’ warped mind.

He should have stuck with Eddie and the band.

Rep. Chris Van Hollen has always struck me as a cheesy liar. A guy with really bad breath.

Sorry for this diversion...back to the topic of this thread.

The Dems call the Tea Party extreme but I bet they think Occupy Wall Street(Where you need protection from being raped) are nice and normal..yep, having Hitler quotes on their facebook page, totally normal..whenever a Dem hears someone talk about limited Govt and fiscal responsibility they think that’s nuts..because Dems believe in Communism and Socialism..they know nothing else

I love it when the democrats see extreme everywhere except in their party....they are so far left Stalin would be a right winger....Its especially nice when they give republicans or conservatives advice on how wrong they are...if they believed it, they’d keep their mouth shut or encourage conservative to continue doing what ever they are doing. Cause they sure do want to help us.....idiots

Let the idiot RINOs and liberal fascists in Washington try to enforce their arcane laws , and executive orders.

Who said anyone would obey them?

We have a so called president who has not proven himself under article II of the Constitution. We do not have to obey a thing he has signed.Indeed it is our duty NOT to obey anything Obama has signed.

Grover Norquist has been agreeing with Boehner lately against the Tea Party. His Islamist ties are not making him any friends with the Tea Party, only with the Republican elite. If anyone is working for the economic destruction of the US and its military weakness, it’s Obama.

I’d rather go over the fiscal cliff now while we still have a chance to recover than to keep kicking the can down the road until it is too late.

When I see him getting interviewed on TV. I know his answers will be nothing but the lying talking points from the DNC and White Hut. ‘If’ he is called out on his lie he just repeats the lie and backs it with another lie.

"Van Hollen called on the House to vote on a Senate measure that would raise taxes on individuals making more than $200,000 in order to avoid the fiscal cliff."

Methinks the Constitution says that all revenue legislation MUST ORIGINATE IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Any "Senate measure" to do so is flatly un-Constitutional. But I wouldn't expect any Democrat to know what the Constitution says, much less legislate accordingly.
